A nine-story wooden office building is coming to the Akihabara area: KiGi AKIHABARA, Sankei Building's first timber mid-rise, sited in Higashi-Kanda within six minutes' walk of three stations. Timber mid-rises have shifted from novelty to race in Japan, where three lines converge: construction-sector decarbonization pressure, policy support for domestic wood use, and matured fire-resistant engineered timber. Mitsui Fudosan's Nihonbashi project and Sumitomo Forestry's high-rise plans run on the same track.
