Alphabet Revenue Jumps 24 Percent as Capex Doubles to 44.9 Billion Dollars for AI

- Q2 revenue hit $119.8 billion, up 24%, a 12th straight double-digit quarter
- Google Cloud revenue surged 82%
- Quarterly capex doubled year on year to $44.9 billion for AI infrastructure
Alphabet's April-June numbers read like a declaration: revenue of $119.8 billion, up 24% for a twelfth consecutive double-digit quarter; Google Cloud up 82%; and the heaviest line—quarterly capital spending of $44.9 billion, doubled from a year earlier, all aimed at AI infrastructure. The market sold the good news (see today's Nikkei outlook piece for what that says about positioning), but don't let the tape obscure the fundamentals: AI demand is converting from model training into inference and cloud revenue, and Cloud's 82% growth is the proof. Doubled capex is the size of the bet on future demand—money that ultimately flows to semiconductor supply chains in Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, plus power equipment and data-center construction. Alphabet's capex remains one of the best leading indicators for the chip cycle; the only question left this earnings season is whether the other giants dare match the pace.
