A box-shaped cooling unit big enough to step into, priced at 1.5 million yen, has sold about 300 units in roughly four months. The market is small but real, and the buyers are clearly not ordinary households — at that price it is bought as a production tool, for sites where workers must recover in high heat or where specific conditions must hold. The structural driver is the labour environment: as extreme heat becomes normal, firms face heatstroke risk, falling productivity and staff they cannot keep, and cooling one person costs far less than cooling a building.
