Nvidia in Talks to Invest Up to $3 Billion in SoftBank-Backed SB Energy

The point of this story is not who is investing in whom. It is that the bottleneck in AI expansion has moved. Nvidia is in talks to put up to three billion dollars into SB Energy, backed by SoftBank Group, for a data centre project in Ohio. When a chipmaker pushes money upstream into power and land, the constraint on compute growth has shifted from chip supply to electricity, sites and grid connection.

For holders of Japanese equities the read is direct: more of SoftBank Group's value is tied to American data centre power assets. Those are valued nothing like the telecom business — they track power prices, interconnection queues and long-term contract terms.
